Embarrassing Man United stat emerges after Cardiff loss

Manchester United 0-2 Cardiff

Manchester United’s dismal 2018/19 season ended versus Cardiff on Sunday.

Heading into the tie, United had won just one of their last eight games across all competitions.

Their form did not get any better this afternoon, though, as the already-relegated Cardiff took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd-minute.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing then doubled Cardiff’s lead in the 54th minute.

This meant that the Red Devils finished the Premier League season without a win in their last five outings, drawing two and losing three.

Man United light-years behind Man City

While Man United were being embarrassed in Cardiff, their cross-town rivals smashed Brighton 4-1 to earn a second successive Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola’s men finished the season on a staggering 98 points, while 6th-placed United earned 66.

This put the Red Devils 32 points behind City at full-time this afternoon. 32 points is the furthest Man United have been behind the title winners at the end of a season since 1975.ter United (@ManUtd) May 12, 2019
