Former Arsenal star urges club to sell Mesut Ozil/sign 4 players

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has pleaded with the Gunners to part ways with Mesut Ozil, in a bid to free up funds to sign other players.

Unai Emery’s men travelled to the King Power Stadium earlier today, for the latest crucial outing in the club’s bid to secure a top-4 berth.

Arsenal headed into proceedings on the back of a dismal run of form over the last week, having fallen to back-to-back defeats at the hands of Crystal Palace and Wolves.

However, despite having been put to the sword 3 times in their last 4 league outings, the similarly-underwhelming form of all of Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United meant that a 3-point haul this afternoon would have Arsenal, at least temporarily, climb back into 4th in the Premier League table.

But, in typical Gunners’ fashion, a dismal showing on the road eventually saw the North Londoners downed by 3 goals to nil.

After Ainsley Maitland-Niles was sent for an early bath following a second yellow-card with just 36 minutes gone, Leicester took full advantage following the interval, courtesy of Youri Tielemans’ opener, and a late Jamie Vardy brace.

‘On his wage, that could bring in four players’

Arsenal’s latest loss, coupled with the point picked up by Chelsea at Old Trafford this evening, means that the capital giants now sit 2 points outside the top-4, with just 2 games remaining in the Premier League season.

And one individual who feels as though a key factor behind the struggles of Unai Emery’s men has been Mesut Ozil, is former Gunners’ hitman Kevin Campbell.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Express, Campbell urged the board at the Emirates to cut their losses on Ozil this summer, before suggesting that as many as 4 ‘functional, versatile’ players should be introduced to the club’s squad:

‘If it was up to me, he’d be gone.’

‘I don’t think he can contribute enough to Arsenal. With the set-up and the way the Premier League is going, I don’t think he does enough.’

‘Is he a wonderfully gifted player? Of course he is. But the way his talent is going, he doesn’t do enough for me.’

‘On his wage, that could bring in four players. And it might be four versatile players.’

‘On one person’s wage you get four opportunities to improve the squad, that must take priority.’

‘More functional players get the better of Arsenal and are undoing them.’

‘That should never undo Arsenal because the club should have that in abundance.’

‘Arsenal haven’t had that type of player in recent years and they need to get that back.’

Unai Emery on Arsenal’s top four hopes after Leicester hammering

Arsenal’s top four hopes took a bit of a nosedive on Sunday.

The Gunners could have moved into 4th place with a win vs Leicester and just one point behind 3rd place Tottenham.

However, Unai Emery’s side would lose 3-0 thanks to a Jamie Vardy brace and a Youri Tielemans strike.

Arsenal would also go a man down in the 36th minute vs the Foxes as Ainsley Maitland-Niles was shown two yellow cards.

Emery didn’t believe the first foul was a yellow card:

 “I don’t agree with the decision because for me the key is the first yellow card and it’s very clear it was not [a yellow].”As quoted by Sky Sports.

Emery focused on Valencia

Emery was also asked about Arsenal’s top four hopes after they lost to Leicester.

Arsenal are still in the Europa League and will play Valencia in the semi-final.

Should they go on to win the competition, they will earn a place in next seasons Champions League.

This is something Emery seems to be more focused on now a top-four spot looks a bit more out of reach, although the Spaniard hasn’t given up hopes of a top-four finish.

“We are thinking in the present and the next match is Valencia, then we think about Brighton [next Sunday] and winning.

“At the beginning of the season, during the season and now, we know we have possibility in the Europa League also and in the Premier League we will play Brighton at home and try to win.” As quoted by Sky Sports

Van Dijk diangkat sebagai Pemain Terbaik PFA

PERTAHANAN Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk, memenangi anugerah Pemain Terbaik PFA selepas menempuhi musim yang cemerlang dalam saingan Liga Perdana Inggeris (EPL).

Pemain kebangsaan Belanda itu telah memainkan peranan yang penting buat The Red mencabar takhta liga musim ini mengejar penyandang juara, Manchester City — persaingan yang bakal ditentukan sehingga perlawanan terakhir musim ini.

Aksi cemerlang Van Dijk merupakan tunjang prestasi cemerlang skuad bimbingan Jurgen Klopp dan dia telah diangkat selaku pemain terbaik dalam anugerah yang dijalankan di London, semalam.

Raheem Sterling, yang telah menjaringkan 17 gol bersama Manchester City, dilihat sebagai pencabar terdekat Van Dijk, tetapi bintang England itu sekadar membawa pulang anugerah Pemain Muda Terbaik PFA.

Rakan sepasukan Sterling bersama City, Bernardo Silva dan Sergio Aguero turut berada dalam senarai utama, sementara penyerang Liverpool, Sadio Mane dan bintang Chelsea, Eden Hazard.

Van Dijk menyertai Liverpool dari Southampton Januari 2018 selaku pertahanan termahal dunia dengan nilai perpindahan mencecah GBP75juta (RM400juta), berjaya membantu pasukan ke final Liga Juara-Juara (UCL) musim lalu.

Pertahanan itu merupakan yang pertama sejak John Terry pada musim 2004-05 untuk merangkul anugerah tersebut, beraksi dalam setiap 36 perlawanan liga musim ini.

Leicester hadiahkan Arsenal rentetan tiga kekalahan 

ARSENAL tumbang buat kali ketiga berturut-turut dalam aksi Liga Perdana Inggeris (EPL) dan lebih buruk lagi terpaksa bermain dengan 10 pemain selepas kelibat Jamie Vardy membayangi kemenangan besar 3-0 Leicester City di Stadium King Power, sebentar tadi.

Kekalahan kepada Crystal Palace dan Wolves, minggu lalu, menjejaskan harapan The Gunners untuk mengukuhkan kedudukan dalam kelompok empat teratas.

Tetapi kekalahan terbaru kepada The Foxes itu bermakna, mereka memerlukan empat mata lagi untuk kelayakan UCL sekiranya Chelsea mengatasi Manchester United, lewat malam ini.

Arsenal membuat langkah sumbang ekoran terjahan lewat Ainsley Maitland-Niles ke atas James Maddison yang membawa kepada insiden kad kuning kedua pada minit ke-36.

Pemain tengah Leicester itu mencetuskan peluang buat jaringan pembukaan Youri Tielemans menerusi tandukan kencang sebelum sejam usia permainan sementara Vardy menemui sentuhan penyudah pada minit ke-86 dan masa kecederaan.

Selepas itu, pemain Belgium itu melepaskan rembatan liar sebelum ketangkasan Leno dituntut untuk menyangkal percubaan Ricardo Pereira dan pemain gantian, Harvey Barnes.

Arsenal yang tenggelam cuba bangkit pada penghujung permainan tetapi dihukum pula dengan gol ke-17 dan ke-18 Vardy dalam kempen musim ini.

Dia menanduk masuk golnya selepas usaha awalnya untuk melepasi Leno terkena palang dan menambah derita skuad kendalian Emery itu dalam masa pemberhentian apabila menolak mudah peluang yang dicipta Pereira.

พล.ท.ไพบูลย์ วรวรรณปรีชา อุปนายกฝ่ายกีฬาว่ายน้ำมาราธอน สมาคมกีฬาว่ายน้ำฯ เปิดเผยว่า ภาพรวมถือว่าเป็นไปตามที่ตั้งเป้าไว้ มีนักกีฬาสนใจการแข่งขันกีฬาว่ายน้ำมาราธอนเพิ่มมากขึ้น เนื่องจากในการแข่งขันในครั้งนี้มีนักกีฬาเข้าร่วมทั้งหมด 226 คน จาก 37 สโมสร ซึ่งมากกว่าครั้งที่แล้ว อีกทั้งยังได้รับความอนุเคราะห์จากกองเรือยุทธการ ฐานทัพเรือสัตหีบ ที่เอื้อเฟื้อสถานที่ และ ให้ความสะดวกสบายกับบรรดาผู้ปกครองและนักกีฬาที่มาเข้าร่วมการแข่งขัน สำหรับซีเกมส์ที่ฟิลิปปินส์ มีเฉพาะประเภทชายและมีระยะเดียวคือ 10 กม. ซี่งสมาคมฯ ตั้งเป้าไว้ว่าจะต้องมีเหรียญติดมืออย่างน้อยก็คือเหรียญเงิน โดยยังเหลืออีก 2 สนามที่ ให้นักกีฬาปอดเหล็กชายระยะ 10 กม.ได้เก็บคะแนนสะสมเพื่อเป็นตัวแทนทีมชาติไทย ซึ่งสมาคมต้องการนักว่ายน้ำมาราธอนชายเพียง 2 คนเท่านั้น ลงแข่งขัน

Jurgen Klopp explains Roberto Firmino’s absence before Barcelona

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has explained why Roberto Firmino was missing against Huddersfield Town.

Despite the Brazilian’s absence, the Reds netted five past the West Yorkshire club to move top of the Premier League.

Firmino’s injury will be a slight concern before Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final tie against FC Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Roberto Firmino has picked up a slight muscle injury in training.

Fortunately, the German manager did not appear concerned about the 27-year-old’s injury.

He was replaced by Daniel Sturridge in the starting line-up this evening.

Firmino has been key for the Reds this term netting 16 goals in 46 appearances, including four in Europe.

Klopp said:

“It’s not a big thing.

“Actually, yesterday after training he mentioned a little muscle issue.

“We’ll assess it obviously.

“It’s not a big thing but was enough to leave him out today, that’s all.”

阿森纳众球星出席俱乐部舞会，为俱乐部基金会筹款

当地时间周四晚间，阿森纳众球星出席了俱乐部的慈善舞会，为俱乐部的基金会筹款。

参加舞会的有300多名嘉宾。众球星通过各种方式筹集资金，有的提供足球训练课程，有的提供成套装备用来拍卖。

姆希塔良带着几个孩子进行了一次足球训练课程，为该基金会的筹款活动站台。

到当晚结束时，该俱乐部的球星们已经帮助筹集了42.8万英镑的资金。

筹集到的资金将用于资助基金会在当地支持的许多项目，以及该俱乐部与救助儿童会(Save the Children)合作的“为生命而辅导”(Coaching For Life)项目。

舞会期间，客人们观看了阿森纳基金会所做的重要工作的视频。其中一段视频显示，一名身穿阿森纳队服的叙利亚难民讲述了他离开这个饱受战争蹂躏的国家以来，基金会的工作对他的帮助。
