Bologna 2-3 Milan: Rossoneri Climb Into Top Half of Serie A With Much-Needed Win

Milan picked up three key points on the road at Bologna on Sunday night, as a Krzysztof Piatek penalty and strikes from Theo Hernandez and Giacomo Bonaventura helped move Stefano Pioli’s men into the top half of the Serie A table.

It had been a dire start to season for the Rossoneri, resulting in the sacking of Marco Giampaolo in October, with the experienced Pioli tasked with picking up the pieces.

With just two wins in seven heading into this one, however, it had been a similarly sticky start to life for the former Fiorentina and Lazio boss.

So when they found themselves two goals ahead just after the half hour mark, after Piatek had converted a penalty following a clumsy foul from Mattia Bani and Theo Hernandez had scored a second at the back post from a terrific assist from Suso, it would have served as a much-needed lift for their spirits.

Bonaventura struck a third early in the second half after an own goal by Hernandez just before the break had threatened to make a real game of it, but Milan would defend their two-goal lead with a relative degree of comfort for much of the second half – much to their beleaguered manager’s delight.

Nicola Sansone did find the net with five minutes remaining to take the shine off the result, but Milan dug deep and saw out an important result that moved them above their hosts and into 10th place – where they sit level on points with Torino and just one behind both Parma and Napoli.

They have some work to do if they are to claw a route into the top six, with a seven point chasm existing between Atalanta and the teams beneath them, but if Milan can keep up performances like this one then they may fancy their chances over the remainder of the season.

Bologna, meanwhile, sit four points behind Milan, and having now failed to win in seven games in all competitions, they may herald some fears of being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

They face Atalanta next week before what could be a key tie with Lecce, who sit just a point behind them as things stand.

德媒：拜仁目前仍信任弗里克，但也在幕后寻找新教练

MANCHESTER – Tindakan tidak terpuji dilakukan oleh seorang oknum suporter Manchester City terhadap gelandang Manchester United, Fred Rodrigues. Suporter tersebut menirukan gestur seekor monyet ketika gelandang berkebangsaan Brasil tersebut hendak mengambil sepak pojok.

Kepolisian Greater Manchester langsung bergerak cepat dengan menciduk pelaku. Namun, kasus tidak berhenti sampai di sana. Fred Rodrigues yang geram dengan tindakan itu, langsung menyebut sang pelaku sebagai orang terbelakang atau kampungan.

Eks gelandang Shakhtar Donetsk itu mengaku tidak melihat gestur meniru seekor monyet yang dilakukan suporter berusia 41 tahun tersebut. Sebab, dirinya sibuk menghindari lemparan korek api dari kerumunan suporter Man City di dekat area sepak pojok pada pertengahan babak kedua.

Sukan SEA 2019 mungkin jadi penampilan terakhir Hup Wei

NEW CLARK CITY: Jaguh lompat tinggi negara, Lee Hup Wei tidak menolak kemungkinan bahawa Sukan SEA ke-30 di sini, bakal menjadi penampilan terakhirnya pada temasya sukan dwi tahunan itu.

Anak jati Selangor itu yang membuat penampilan sulung pada edisi 2007 di Korat, Thailand mendedahkan fokusnya kini adalah melayakkan diri secara merit ke Sukan Olimpik Tokyo 2020.

“Mungkin ya (penampilan terakhir Sukan SEA)…kita tengok selepas ini,” katanya ketika ditemui pemberita selepas acara berkenaan di Stadium Olahraga New Clark City, Filipina pada Ahad.

Terdahulu, Hup Wei memenangi pingat emas dalam acara itu walaupun rakan senegara Nauraj Singh Randhawa melakukan lompatan pada ketinggian yang sama iaitu 2.21m.

Hup Wei diisytiharkan sebagai pemenang selepas kiraan semula kerana beliau melakukan lompatan pada ketinggian itu dahulu, dan perak menjadi milik Nauraj sementara atlet Thailand, Tawan Kaeodam terpaksa berpuas hati dengan kutipan gangsa setelah mencatat lompatan setinggi 2.15 meter.

Hup Wei yang mempunyai catatan peribadi terbaik, 2.27 meter, pernah meraih pingat emas pada tiga edisi terdahulu — 2007 di Thailand, 2009 di Laos dan 2011 di Indonesia.

Dalam pada itu, jaguh Paralimpik negara, Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli berpuas hati dengan pingat perak yang dimenanginya dalam acara lontar peluru lelaki dengan lontaran sejauh 17.03 meter, sekali gus memperbaiki kutipan gangsa yang diraih pada Sukan SEA Kuala Lumpur 2017.

“Saya berpuas hati dengan kejayaan saya meraih pelbagai kejayaan pada musim ini, termasuk memenangi pingat perak pada Kejohanan Para Dunia, selain menjadi atlet Paralimpik pertama memenangi pingat pada Sukan SEA,” kata anak jati Gombak, Selangor itu.

Jurgen Klopp Provides Fitness Updates on Liverpool Trio Following Victory Over Bournemouth

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has described Dejan Lovren’s injury as ‘not too serious’ after the Croatian was substituted during the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Klopp has calmed any fears over a serious injury for Lovren, and the German boss also provided positive news over the fitness of Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum, who were not included in this weekend’s matchday squad.

Speaking after the victory on Saturday, Klopp explained that Lovren’s injury may only be ‘a little cramp’, given the club’s hectic winter schedule, as reported by Metro.

“Always you don’t know exactly but it looks not too serious, it looks like a little cramp,” said the Liverpool boss. “He felt something, he told us, said he for sure could go to half time, wanted to have treatment there and carry on, but we said no and stopped it there.

“That’s the status quo, you have these kind of things in this moment of the season. It is similar to what Gini [Wijnaldum] and Adam Lallana had – not serious but serious enough to keep them out.

“Now we have two days to make sure they can go again. That’s what I think at the moment but I don’t know 100 per cent. Apart from that it was a perfect game. All round nearly perfect day.”

Liverpool have been sensational this season, winning 15 of their 16 Premier League matches, and opening up an 11 point gap over their nearest rivals Leicester City. The Reds face a hectic winter schedule however, as they must fight on a number of fronts, including the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.

Klopp was able to rest star forwards Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino against the Cherries, and they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over their hosts, thanks to goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah.

Barcelona returned to the summit of La Liga with a resounding 5-2 victory over Mallorca at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening, surpassing Real Madrid, who beat Espanyol by two goals to nil.

Summer signing Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring for the hosts after a pin-point pass from Barça’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen – cutting onto his right foot and slotting coolly past Manolo Reina in the Mallorca goal.

Having won a record-breaking sixth Ballon d’Or on Monday night, Lionel Messi showed exactly why he is considered the world’s best, scoring a breathtaking goal from outside the box into the top right-hand corner of Reina’s goal.

Ante Budimir dragged the visitors back into the game after expertly chipping past Ter Stegen. The talismanic Messi added his second with another curling effort before Luis Suárez got himself on the scoresheet with an outrageous back-heel chip over the hapless Reina to make it 4-1 before half time.

Despite some early second-half pressure from the home side, it was Mallorca who scored first after half time, Budimir scoring his second of the match with a fine header from Fran Gámez’s cross.

Messi rounded off the evening with a phenomenal finish from inside the box, thumping the ball in off the underside of the bar for his hat-trick after a deft touch from Suárez fell into the path of Barcelona’s captain.
